Rolf Harris – New Collection for 2010 – ‘A Life In Art’

September 10, 2010 on 2:01 pm | In New Releases, Rolf Harris | 5 Comments

How apt that it should have such a title as this: ‘A Life In Art’ no artist has done more to capture the great British Public’s attention over the years with art than him.

From the 60s right throughout the 2000s and beyond, he has been a stalwart of British TV, from Rolf’s Cartoon club to the much loved Animal Hospital!

Rolf’s desire to paint is clearly as strong as ever and on a personal note, I believe the images that are being published as limited editions are getting stronger and stronger as the years pass.

His love of Elvis Presley also reappears in this new collection, & ‘Elvis Entertains’ shows the king at work during his 1968 comeback. No doubt Rolf wanted to get up there and do his ‘jeg the peg’ (jake the peg) routine lol!

National Portrait Gallery – ‘ideath’ Painting of a girl on her iPod wins BP Visitor’s Choice Award 2010

September 9, 2010 on 11:11 pm | In Art Awards, Art Exhibitions, Breaking News, Original Art | No Comments

A picture of a girl on her iPod has become the annual winner of this prestigious prize sponsored by BP. The piece was taken from the ‘Visitor’s Choice’ exhibition that has been on display in the gallery.

‘ideath’ painting by Michal Ozibko

Interestingly this was voted on by people actually visiting the museum, not by some ‘panel of experts’ as so often is the case & visitors where able to vote via a touch screen monitor outside the exhibition – new for the 2010 competition.

Michal Ozibko, a Czechoslovakian born painter, produced a major piece measuring 65 inches across by 86 inches height & called ‘ideath.’ Nearly 26,000 visitors to the National Portrait Gallery voted & ‘ideath’ received over 15% of those, scooping the BP sponsored Portrait Award for 2010.

You can see the voting results on the Gallery’s website on the links section

Thank you

Jessica

Legendary Australian painter Rolf Harris could recently be heard on London’s airwaves as he popped in to talk to another legend, London’s own sharped tongued DJ Steve Allen

For some who is by now collecting his pension, Steve Allen, I mean Rolf Harris :) certainly is looking very spritely and is appearing all over the place, from gallery events to media appearances

Wobble board always in tow!

thanks

James
