  • Death & tribute of the much loved artist Govinder Nazran

Rather than be a totally sad and very formal post, I have included images of some of Govinder’s work within the post to show the happyness and positivity which is his artwork.

Washington Green Fine Art Publishers, have today released a statement regarding Govinder’s death, it also contains the address to send letters of condolences.

(‘Chutzpah & Claptrap’ by Govinder Nazran)

    “Dear Customer,

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of one of the country’s greatest contemporary artists – Govinder Nazran.

Govinder died on Tuesday 30th December after an accident on Christmas Day which left him with severe head injuries.

    (‘The Patriot’ by Govinder Nazran)

It is our intention to commemorate the incredible talent that was Govinder to support his family, details to follow in the next few weeks. For this reason and as a mark of respect, we have withdrawn all available Govinder art from sale for the time being and would ask all our partners to do the same.

2009 would have been our tenth anniversary of working with Govinder, a decade of the most amazing and creative art from one of the most talented, gentle and innovative artists we have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Messages of condolence may be sent to:

    Jo Colley,

    for forwarding to the family.

‘It is often the brightest star that burns for the shortest time’

    Kind Regards,

    Glyn Washington”

It is amazing that this year would have been the 10th year Govinder’s limited edition work was being produced, I have become so used to his work being regularly released by Washington Green, that largely one takes it for granted.

It is a tribute to the man and his abilities that he has been at the forefront of published limited edition art for 10 years.

    Thank you

    Russell

  • UK Artist Govinder Nazran sadly passes away – December 2008

It is with great sadness that we report that the UK Artist Govinder Nazran passed away over the Christmas period, I believe on Christmas Day.

I thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

It is very sad that an artist whose work brought so much joy to so many, died at such a young age.

I found some lovely words by the artist, where he talks about what inspires his paintings, I read them and it comforted me somewhat to know how caring a person he was: (click here:) Govinder Nazran Biography

I also included pictures of his 2 winter 2008 releases so you can see some of the colourfulness of his work:

  • Salvador Dali – Exclusive limited edition prints & sculptures

I have had a lot of emails from people who have simply adored the exclusive Dali Limited Edition prints and sculptures I blogged about back in Feb 2008 and where unaware something of this quality was available to buy.

The sheer size of the prints (all are 21 inches wide x 29.25 inches tall, that excludes the mounting/ matting which make them even bigger) and the quality of the reproduction of these serigraphs, has truly impressed people. The detail that has gone into recreating his famous characters into sculpture form has simply blown the public away – judging by all the emails I have received.

The positive feedback has been tremendous and I never realised how lasting the appeal of Salvador Dali and his work is.

  • UK artist Steven Binks – Releases the ‘Doe-130’ Tractor print

Steven Binks has been working hard as of late and has produced a number of new limited edition pieces featuring vintage Tractors.

His latest piece for October 2008 is the ‘Doe-130’:

We have spoken to Steven and he gave us an insight into the Doe-130 tractor in the painting:

“The Fordson Major tractor [made by Ford] ceased production in 1964 and the Ford Pre-Force was introduced in 1965. Ernest Doe carried on with production using the direct replacement – the Ford 5000. These had more horsepower than the old Fordson, so the two new “5000” bolted together gave 130 horse power – so more H.P. and a new tractor – hence a new name: “DOE 130″.

This was of course still the same concept – 2 tractors bolted together to create four wheel drive.”

    Thank you
