  • Artist Rolf Harris – Playing tennis at ‘Wimbledon Legends’ this year?

Well not quite but Rolf did manage to unveil a new piece of work this year at the event entitled: ‘Wimbledon Champions’ and which is now available to own as a limited edition print.

On the 15th June, a few days before the tournament, Rolf unveiled the piece himself in the presence of Martina Navratilova and Bjorn Borg, players featured in the painting and Britain’s much loved former No.1 Tim Henman.

In this new work, Rolf pays tribute to 10 of the greatest Wimbledon Champions: Bjorn Borg, Steffi Graf, Billie-Jean King, Rod Laver, Suzanne Lenglen, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Pete Sampras and Venus Williams & of course the man who would go on to win: Roger Federer.

Again Rolf shows his versatility as an artist, showing he is just as talented with figurative portraits as any other subject matter!

  • Rolf Harris – New limited editions coming soon

Just received word that Rolf Harris will shortly be releasing New limited editions prints via Demontfort Fine Art.

    Photograph of artist Rolf Harris

It will be interesting to see how many will be released and what subject matter they will be featuring. Last year’s 2006 collection featured 16 items ranging from: London scenes, boating/ rivers to wildlife, with 8 images (8 on paper and 8 on canvas versions.) The colouring on those pieces blew me away, they were amazing and undeniably a ‘Rolf Harris’ work.

I hope that these New releases will be at a more reachable, lower price, so more members of the public can enjoy his work in their homes.

    thank you

  • Rolf Harris – ‘Blue Elvis’ new Limited Edition print

Popular Australian born artist Rolf Harris has released a new Limited Edition print for July 2007, his first this year, to the UK and Worldwide art market. ‘Blue Elvis’ is a fitting tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley and was painted to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Elvis’s passing in 1977. Rolf talks about what made him paint Elvis:

Blue Elvis by artist Rolf Harris

‘My Wife and I have a very dear friend who has been a huge Elvis Presley fan since he was a child. He seems to know every song that Elvis ever sang, let along recorded. In conversation with him a couple of years ago, I found out, to my amazement, that it would soon be thirty years since Elvis passed away and I thought that this remarkable man, on stage, in his trademark white jumpsuit, would make a wonderful painting.

Well, to cut a long story short, I did the painting as a celebration of his life and I’m really proud of if it. I hope you fell that it captures the king as he is best remembered.’

Personally I think ‘Blue Elvis’ reveals Rolf Harris’s versatility as a painter and this is an outstanding figurative piece of work in its own right; the fact that it is a tribute to such a beloved icon makes it even more satisfying to me.

    thank you
