I will personally be at the event and will publish a report soon after. Although I have been lucky enough to be in the company of Nigel Hemming several times, I have never met Steven Townsend and am very much looking forward to it.

I’m sure this event will prove hugely successful, Nigel Hemming and Steven Townsend are arguably the most famous published canine artists in the UK and possibly the world.

Out of interest, Nigel has become best known for his gun dog Limited Edition prints and Steven for both his border collie and wildlife Limited Edition prints. As you can see by the image in this blog post, Steven is also an accomplished landscape and seascape artist.

Has the Art world now officially gone as a Mad as a Milk Maid?

UK Artist Caroline Shotton has taken the bold step in repainting in her own ‘Milky Way’ some the ‘Great Masters’ in history and putting them in Cow form. These Limited Edition prints are ‘Moovelous’!

I personally love these and find them a very confident statement on Caroline Shotton’s part. Some really great painting, not to mention creativity, went into these pieces. You really have to these pieces in the flesh to appreciate them fully. Everyone who has seen them has commented how the pictures have grown on them and how their favourite of the 6 keeps changing.

The frames on the 4 framed pieces are about 4” wide but are light in colour and give the pieces both a modern and contemporary feel at the same time. The other 2 are Box Canvases, the style Caroline has made all her own in recent years.

    thank you

  • Caroline Shotton – contemporary ‘Cow’ art & sculptures!

Well it looks like Caroline Shotton has done it again and produced some amazing new pieces for Autumn 07. I really think her work is continuing to improve and the images are fabulous.

Dirty Cows by artist Caroline Shotton

Unlike some artists she is not intent on simply rehashing old ideas/images and making a ‘quick buck’ but she is intentionally adding a lot of depth and imagination to her work and developing the ideas behind them.

‘Cow-Moo-Flage’ & ‘Dirty Cows’ are 2 great examples, with her imaginative use of background colours and effects and also the tie in with the name of the picture itself:
‘Cow-Moo-Flage’ – with the cows bodies hidden within the the background and the ‘Dirty Cows’ – being covered in mud, a typical scene no doubt throughout many English farms!

    Cow-Moo-Flage by artist Caroline Shotton

I find her work to be fresh, funky and vibrant.

Sculptures are a new idea from her for 2007 and ‘My Fa-Moo-Ly’ is the 2nd one produced by Caroline, allowing her comedic cows to be appreciated in another touchable medium! I like the fact the sculpture is the same cows taken from her box canvas limited edition of the same name. I am sure the sculptures must be very appealing to those who own or liked the accompanying box canvas (also called ‘My Fa-Moo-Ly’)

I think Caroline Shotton will stay ahead of her ‘field’ for many years to come, I couldn’t resist that one!

    thank you
