Rather than be a totally sad and very formal post, I have included images of some of Govinderâ€™s work within the post to show the happyness and positivity which is his artwork.

Washington Green Fine Art Publishers, have today released a statement regarding Govinder’s death, it also contains the address to send letters of condolences.

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of one of the country’s greatest contemporary artists – Govinder Nazran.

Govinder died on Tuesday 30th December after an accident on Christmas Day which left him with severe head injuries.

It is our intention to commemorate the incredible talent that was Govinder to support his family, details to follow in the next few weeks. For this reason and as a mark of respect, we have withdrawn all available Govinder art from sale for the time being and would ask all our partners to do the same.

2009 would have been our tenth anniversary of working with Govinder, a decade of the most amazing and creative art from one of the most talented, gentle and innovative artists we have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

It is amazing that this year would have been the 10th year Govinder’s limited edition work was being produced, I have become so used to his work being regularly released by Washington Green, that largely one takes it for granted.

It is a tribute to the man and his abilities that he has been at the forefront of published limited edition art for 10 years.

Our thoughts go out to Govinders’ Wife, Sarah & his Daughter after this most tragic news.

Gov was one of the most friendly individuals you could have met who would make time for you when ever you met him. Either at an exhibition of his work or at home with his family, Gov would be most enthusiastic about his work and his weird & wonderful ideas about what inspiered him to put paint (or many other unusual objects!!) to canvas.

Being proud owners of many of his works, both prints & originals, we shall always treasure each piece with the memory of a person with so much artistic talant. We will have fond recollections of the time we have spent with such a great man.

Once again, our love and thoughts go out to Gov’s family at this most difficult time.

I was so stunned and upset to hear about the very sad loss of Govinder, my thoughts are for his Wife Sarah and Daughter Eden. I have several prints and sculptures which I have aquired over the last 7-8 years, and I love them all. I adore “Twotails” as it reminds me so much of my cat Pipp. God Bless you. You have left a “hole in our hearts”.

I walked into a gallery in Stratford early 2004 attracted by this stunning picture ‘broomstone and treacle’ I started chatting with a quiet well reserved young man who introduced himself as ‘Govinder Nazran’ we had a coffee together and an hour later and about £2000 less I left having bought 3 limited editions of his works, all personaly signed by the great man. I have collected since many of his paintings and sculptures and each one will always provoke a conversation when anyone visits my home. I was lucky enough to receive from him just days before xmas a personaly signed 2009 calender. A great loss to the Art World and all his fans, but a greater loss to his family.

We are so sad to read this news and only came to know about it while looking for a piece of his work. We met him about 5 years ago when we purchased the Butcher for our 4 month old baby daughter Harriet the words that he placed on the back of this piece of work for her is “always be inspired ” and in his memory we hope she always will be.

What a wonderful man, what a loss.

Govinder’s work changed my view of art forever. His work finally found for me a balance between depth and meaning, and accessability. And I’ve been in love with his paintings ever since.

I’m so sad for his family. I hope they can take just a little comfort from knowing that he’ll be missed by everyone he touched through his life and art.

I have only just read the very sad news about Govinder. My son and I have always loved and admired his wonderful colourful art work.
My son was also an artist but unknown and we lost him in February 2004 in very tragic circumstances, but when we were out and about in Wolverhampton or Leamington Spa we always spent so much time in art shops/galleries looking at Govinders work choosing our favorites and it always made us laugh and smile.
So my deepest sympathies go out to his Wife and daughter and also to the rest of his family.
A thought crosses my mind that just maybe my son David has met one of his most favorite Artists Govinder Nazran. Rest In Peace to both of you.

I am shocked, I had no idea he died. I love his work and have seen it in various catalogues. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to see his work up close.

Until retirement 3 yaers ago our Gallery was near Govinders home and it was a delight to share his work with many customers.
Like so many we were saddened to hear of his tragic passing and even now 9 months later,looking at his work brings sadness as well as joy.
We have just come back from Chicago and our experience of talking to several Gallery owners is that Govinder is sadly missed in the States.

Having just moved to a new rental I was surfing poster sites tonight creating a “wish list” of prints. I came across some of Govinder Nazran’s work and immediately wanted to see more and find out more about the artist. I am saddened to learn of his death, especially at such a young age. His paintings drew me in immediately and touched a spot in my heart. Thanks.

Gov was an amazing person and a very gifted artist . I had the pleasure of meating him and going to his one of his studios (he shared it with my dad) I am doing an art project at school and gov will be featured in it . He was truly an insparation to many . He will be missed xx
